Giacomo Berchi is Assistant Professor of French and Italian at Stanford University. His research focuses on Dante and early modern epic. He has published articles in English, Italian, and Portuguese on Dante, Derek Walcott, Giacomo Leopardi, and Luís de Camões, among others. His current book project, tentatively entitled Chaos, examines early modern epic scenes of navigation and the representation of the oceanic space in relation to creation narratives.
